A seeming stable Evan died suddenly this afternoon. After a few hours of unusually difficult breathing, he was gone, passing his last moments in the arms of his ayi who is now inconsolable.
Born with a complicated heart defect, Evan is the first baby we've lost here in Beijing during my time at New Hope. His death has only reaffirms our purpose in caring for these abandoned babies, so that no child will suffer or die without being loved.
Rest in peace little one.
